艾瑞克‧艾萨克斯是芝加哥大学分管科研、创新和国家实验室的常务副校长,James Franck研究所物理学教授。在2016年成为常务副校长之前,艾瑞克·艾萨克斯教授是芝加哥大学教务长(2014年4月-2016年6月),阿贡国家实验室主任(2009-2014)。他1979年在伯洛伊特学院取得物理学学士学位,1988年在麻省理工学院取得物理学博士学位,1988-1990年在贝尔实验室完成博士后。

Eric Isaacs is Executive Vice President for Research, Innovation and National Laboratories, University of Chicago and Professor of Physics, The James Franck Institute, University of Chicago. Prior to becoming Executive Vice President in 2016, Professor Eric Isaacs served as Provost, University of Chicago (April 2014- June 2016) and Laboratory Director, Argonne National Laboratory (2009-2014). He got Post-Doc, Bell Laboratories (1988 – 1990), Ph.D., Physics, MIT (1988) and Beloit College, Physics, BA (1979).
His research on studies of novel electronic and magnetic materials with a focus on creating images of new phenomena in reciprocal and real space at the nanoscale. His recent accomplishments in 2013 include direct observation of metastability and microscopic avalanche dynamics in charge-density waves of chromium. Developer of modern synchrotron-based x-ray scattering techniques including inelastic x-ray scattering, x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy and hard x-ray nano-probe.
He fosters a vibrant research environment at Argonne National Laboratory that enables scientists and engineers to create new opportunities and address the major challenges in fundamental science and energy; developing and leveraging the unique capabilities of our Labs major user facilities, world-class university research and the rich industrial problems.
