       郭鸿基教授1987年获得美国科罗拉多州立大学大气科学博士，目前为台湾大学大气科学系讲座教授，其研究领域包含大气动力、台风、数学模式与计算。曾工作于美国海军实验室(1988-1990)，任教于UCLA (1994)与Purdue (2002-2003)大学。也曾担任澳洲Macquarie大学、UC Davis及UCLA、新加坡大学、香港城市大学教授升等审查委员以及博士生考试委员，与第三届国际地球科学奥林匹亚科学组织科学委员会主席。获得美国 UCLA教授交换奖、科技部三次杰出研究奖、两次特约研究员奖、一次杰出特约研究员奖，亦并于2007年获得台湾学术殊荣教育部国家讲座教授。其论文也曾获得2012年美国海军实验室颁发之著作奖Alan Berman Research Publication Award。曾任国科会自然科学大气学门招集人、国科会永续会防灾气象召集人、与教育部学术审议委员会委员等职，有丰富管理、研发与教学经验。

Professor Kuo Hung-Chi received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University in 1987. He is currently the NTU Chair Professor in Department of Atmospheric Sciences, National Taiwan University. His research interests include but not limited to Atmospheric Dynamics, Tropical Cyclone, Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computation. His work has appeared in more than 60 publications. He had served as a post-doctoral researcher at Naval Research Laboratory (1988-1990) and a visiting professor at University of California (1994) and Purdue University (2002-2003). And currently he is a member of American Meteorology Society and fellow of Meteorological Society of Republic of China with awards including Faculty Exchange Award of University of California, Distinguished Research Award of National Science Council (NSC) of Republic of China (three times), the NSC Extraordinary Researcher Multiyear Award (two times), and the Merit NSC Research Fellow Award. As an awardee of National Chair Professor from Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2007, and Naval Research Laboratory Alan Berman Research Publication Award in 2012, Professor Kuo has given outstanding contributions to the profession of meteorology, not to mention his service in the NSC and MOE.
