Professor Kuo Hung-Chi received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University in 1987. He is currently the NTU Chair Professor in Department of Atmospheric Sciences, National Taiwan University. His research interests include but not limited to Atmospheric Dynamics, Tropical Cyclone, Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computation. His work has appeared in more than 60 publications. He had served as a post-doctoral researcher at Naval Research Laboratory (1988-1990) and a visiting professor at University of California (1994) and Purdue University (2002-2003). And currently he is a member of American Meteorology Society and fellow of Meteorological Society of Republic of China with awards including Faculty Exchange Award of University of California, Distinguished Research Award of National Science Council (NSC) of Republic of China (three times), the NSC Extraordinary Researcher Multiyear Award (two times), and the Merit NSC Research Fellow Award. As an awardee of National Chair Professor from Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2007, and Naval Research Laboratory Alan Berman Research Publication Award in 2012, Professor Kuo has given outstanding contributions to the profession of meteorology, not to mention his service in the NSC and MOE.
